ITANAGAR, JUNE 21 : The Assam and Arunachal border issue is an old issue since the 1950s and the Border Road Organization (BRO) has made a mistake, said Chief Minister Pema Khandu here on Monday.
Both Arunachal and Assam government are determined to resolve the matter related to border issues, very soon CM to CM meeting would be convened with Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa sarma, so that matter can be amicably solved as both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam is ruled by BJP party. said Khandu.
To resolve the border dispute between two states, a local commission’s report was submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which was accepted by Arunachal, however, the Assam government went to the Supreme Court (SC) earlier, he added.
“As matters will take prolonged time in Court, We will try to solve the issues out of the Court and the issue was also discussed by the Minister of Defence,” he assured.
Briefing the media on the Kimin episode of defacing of Arunachal Pradesh name with white paper pasting on June 17 during the inauguration of Kimin-Potin road at Kimin in Papum Pare district, Khandu said that I also come to know during the event and after the programme I informed the matter to Minister for Sports and Youth Kiren Rijiju who was supposed to accompany the MOD Rajnath Singh in helicopter for information to MOD.
“I was also informed by the public leaders at Kimin about the pasting of white paper on name of Arunachal Pradesh there itself, I take it seriously, it was unfortunate on the part of BRO”. said Khandu adding that I have directed the administration to short out the issue with BRO Chief Engineer on the miscommunication if taken place. Khandu added.
Appealing to the people of Kimin not to carry the issue further, he went on to say, since the Arunachal share approximately 716 km which would be taken up for greater interest of both the states.
