Governor extends Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi greetings
Naharlagun: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the State, especially to Singpho brethren, on the auspicious occasion of Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi. He expressed his hope that the sacred occasion will usher in harmonious coexistence and socio-cultural growth of the society.
In his message, the Governor said that Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi, with its ritualistic ceremonies, songs, dances, cultural programmes, community feasts, literary activities and interaction sessions has become a medium in preserving our heritage. I call upon the Singpho elders and the youths alike to promote this event in the State and abroad. Let us further strengthen our traditions, culture and carry it forward to cement the bondings in our fold, he exhorted.
On this auspicious occasion, I join my Singopho people in offering prayers to invoke Shapawng Yawng for the blessings for each one of us and grant us peace, progress and prosperity, he said in his message.
Sharing his concern about the Corona pandemic, the Governor urged the people to observe the festival at home and eschew mass congregations. For the safety and wellbeing of our fellow citizens, let us follow the anti COVID protocols of wearing masks, social distancing and frequent washing of hands. With the people’s Cooperation we shall succeed in checking the deadly coronavirus disease infection, he said.
